Albert Cooney will become Longford County Board's new treasurer at Convention tonight (Thursday).

The Rathcline clubman - outgoing assistant treasurer - is the only person nominated to succeed the incumbent Anthony Dooner, who has completed his five-year term.

Brendan Gilmore (also Rathcline) will be returned unopposed as chairman for the third year to work alongside full-time secretary / games manager Peter O'Reilly (Abbeylara).

The only possible contest at the top table in Aras Ui Bhriain tonight could be for the vacated assistant treasurer post, with both Dooner and Eugene Quaine (Carrickedmond) nominated.
