The race for the Connolly Cup gets underway this weekend with six first round games down for decision.

There are two games taking place this evening. Abbeylara and Mullinalaghta face off in Ballinalee, while Newtowncashel will host the meeting of Ardagh St. Patrick's and Ballymahon. Both games throw in at 8pm.

Killoe hosts a double-header tomorrow evening featuring Longford Slashers v Fr Manning Gaels and Colmcille v St. Mary's, Granard. County champions Slashers could be vulnerable owing to the unavailability of Mark Smith, Paul Kelly and Marc Diffley, and the retired Dominic Glennon.

The second double-header of the weekend takes place in Granard on Sunday evening with Clonguish meeting Dromard and Killoe Emmet Og squaring up to Mostrim.
