FL3: Model survive as Longford relegated

Wexford 1-15
Longford 2-10

Longford suffered the ignominy of relegation to Division 4 after losing out to hosts Wexford by two points.

The Model County's win was more emphatic than the final scoreline suggests as the visitors netted consolation goals from Francis McGee and Paul Barden in injury-time.

The sides went in level on 0-8 apiece at the break but Aidan O'Brien's charges pulled away during the third quarter with the help of a 46th minute goal by Kevin O'Grady.

They were eight points to the good approaching the final whistle before substitute McGee and Barden raised those late green flags.
