Longford manager Jack Sheedy believes it is up to the under-21 players coming into the senior squad to make the most of their opportunity.

Following the Leinster semi final defeat to Dublin last week, Sheedy can now call on the under-21 players in his senior squad for the remaining two league matches against Sligo and Wexford.

Speaking to the Longford Leader, Sheedy stated that some of the under-21 players will be part of the senior squad for the remainder of the year.

"Some of the guys will come into contention for the seniors," said the former Dublin footballer. "We will look at that and see what we need to do.

"Hopefully, those that come in will kick on and give some serious competition to the guys that are already in the squad."
