Division 1 League: Dromard 0-15 St Marys Granard 1-13. Hard luck to our senior team who lost out to Granard by a single point on Saturday evening last in Higginstown. At half time, Dromard led by one point, 8 points to 7. Despite holding the lead for long stages, Granard stayed within touching distance in what was a very competitive contest. Dromard looked to have secured a win when Francis McGee kicked a point to give the visitors a two point lead with time almost up. In the last attack of the game, Granard scored a goal to snatch a victory. Team: Gavin McNerney; Kevin Kane, Pauric Martin, Niall Vance; Peter Reynolds, Paul McGee, John Sheridan; Bernard Sheridan, James Mimnagh; Dylan McCormack, Francis McGee, Michael Reilly, James Martin, Bryan McCormack, Peter Masterson. Subs: Peter Mimnagh, Diarmuid Masterson, Michael Reynolds, Oisin Hourican.

Senior Championship: Dromard's crucial game against Killoe has been fixed for Sunday week, 19 August, at 1:30pm in McGee Park, Colmcille.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

County Matters: Good Luck to our Senior County Ladies Panel, especially the Dromard girls involved, as they take on Down in Inniskeen (near Carrickmacross) this Saturday 11th August, throw in 13:00. This is a relegation playoff with the losers meeting the loser of Fermanagh v Offaly in the decider.

Senior Championship: If it's nail biting football you want then Dromard Ladies are the team to follow. After last week's loss to Killashee/Ballymahon/Forgney by a mere 2 points, our girls lost to Mostrim by a single point. Trailing by 6 points at one stage the girls made a determined recovery to lead by 2 points during the second half, before eventually falling to a 1 point defeat. This year's elevation to Senior Championship has been a tough learning curve for the team but fair play the heads have never dropped and they have improved game by game. Hopefully they can get a reward for their season's efforts in the final match against Clonguish.

U/14 Championship: St. Brigid's were the visitors in our last group game, arriving with a 100% record. Always a good battle between these two teams, and it swung both ways until 2 goals late in the second half secured the win for the visitors. However the team has still qualified for the semi-finals, and we wait to see who our opponents will be. The match is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 9th) and the girls will be informed by text of venue, time etc.

U/8 and U/10 Blitz:  This next weekend, Saturday 11th August at 11:00am it's the turn of Dromard Ladies to host the event. All girls born 2008 and later are eligible, so let's have a good turnout. There is plenty to do on the day, so we need volunteers to help set out the grounds and to commit to supplying sandwiches etc. plus hot and cold drinks afterwards to everyone. Please get in touch with Imelda and let her know what you will do on the day to help the cause. Thanks.

Birthdays: Two from our Senior Panel this week. Resolute defender who also finds time to manage our U/12s, Niamh Cooke plus sharpshooter Becky Maguire. Enjoy your day ladies, whatever you have planned. Also two of our younger members, Kate McEntire, a valuable player for both Dromard and the County U/14s who turns 13 this week, and Brona Holloway who reaches 9. Happy Birthday to all.
