Connerton: all we can do is our best

Denis Connerton has been long enough in the game to know that it would be foolish to hype his side up against the might of Dublin.

Sunday's Leinster SFC semi final at Croke Park is a real David v. Goliath clash and although there was a result for the underdog on that occasion, it is highly unlikely the same will happen at Croker.

Connerton is philosophical enough to know that all he can hope for is a performance from his charges which would give them a boost ahead of the qualifiers and possibly a place in the Super 8s.

"It's a massive game for us. It's not a big deal for Dublin. Dublin are used to this; they have Leinster well tamed at this stage," Connerton told the Longford Leader.

"All we can do is get the best out of ourselves and to perform to the best of our ability. That's all I will be asking of the players. Don't have any worries about playing in Croke Park or go away with any regrets.

"It's a great opportunity for our lads to measure themselves against the best players of this era in their own backyard. We have some very good young players and this will give them the opportunity to see how good they really are when they come up against the consistently best players in this country."
