Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Fixtures and Results: A mixed bag this week. Firstly our U/12s quest for their first win goes on.On Monday last they travelled to Ballymahon/Forgney and although they were defeated, everyone agreed their perfomances are improving match by match, and they now look forward to their last Championship game away to Rathcline on Monday 14th May. They will then have a month to get in some serious training before their Summer League starts on Mon June 11th. Remember girls the only way is up! Our U/14s travelled to Ardagh for their first Championship game, expecting a tough match, as there is never much between these 2 teams, and so it proved. All square at halfway, St.Brigids led by a point going into the last few minutes, and as Dromard pushed for the equalising point our opponents broke up the field and raised a green flag. An excellent game between two good sides to get the Championship up and running and we eagerly await the next challenge away to Clonguish. The final game of the week was the U/16 Semi -Final at home to Killoe, and this brought us our only win of the week. Once again two good sides battled it out on a perfect day for football, but it was Dromard who held the upper hand throughout and progress to the Final.

Skills and Drills: This excellent initiative run by our Senior Panel, helped by several parents drew to a close on Saturday last. Most of last year's Panels renewed for this coming year and it was great to see so many new faces signing up after getting a first taste of Gaelic Football. We welcome you all to Dromard Ladies Club and hope you get many years of enjoyment from being part of us. Our new Chairperson, Brid Mimnagh was on hand to present all the girls with their eagerly awaited certificates, before everybody involved had the special treat of a 99 from the ice cream van. Thanks to everybody who helped out for the 4 week course. It looked as if you all enjoyed it as much as the girls.

Birthday Greetings: To County player Shauna Hagan who will be 16 on Monday. Shauna plays for our U/16, Minor and Senior Panels as well as for her County. Busy Lady. Also to Tamara Cosgrove who will be 13 on Wednesday and togs out for both the U/14's and our U/16s.Have a lovely day Girls.
