CAMOGIE

Congratulations to Laura O Neill, Sinead McNamara and their Limerick Senior camogie teammates who won Limericks first Munster Senior Camogie Championship over the weekend with an excellent 1-13 to 0-14 victory over Cork in Charleville.

Well done to the Under 14 camogie team who qualified for the County Under 14B Final following an excellent win over Ballybrown in Pairc Dromguil on Saturday.
Playing with the wind in the first half the girls played very well and got some good scores.
Goals from Eva Long and Sarah Stanley helped give us a half time lead of 2-2 to 1-0.
The second half saw a great battling performance from the girls, hooking, blocking and working very hard for each other. This hard work payed off with the defence refusing to concede the all important scores that Ballybrown sought out.
Ciara Grant our netminder was busy in the last few minutes but coped admirably with the threat whilst in front of her Maeve Brown, Sarah Murray and  Niamh Skehan defended stoutly.
Out the field Aine O Tiarnaigh showed her prowess with an array of skills and up front Sarah Stanley, Aishling Fahey, Eva Long and Grace Palmer did very well.

Overall a very good team performance as we look forward to the final against Blackrock/Effin.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 2-2 Ballybrown 1-1
Team: Ciara Grant, Jill McNamara, Maeve Brown, Laura McNamara, Niamh Skehan, Sarah Murray, Hannah Kehoe, Grace Palmer, Aine O Tiarnaigh, Lizana Boylan, Eva Long(1-1), Rebecca Gilvarry, Orna O Neill, Sarah Stanley(1-0)Aishling Fahey(0-1).

SENIOR FOOTBALLERS

Our senior footballers were back in action when they played Adare in Round 2 of the Championship on Thursday in Mungret.

This was a game which was refixed from a previous date.

Played in Mungret in excellent conditions we got off to a woeful start and found ourselves trailing 2-3 to 0-0 after 15 minutes.

It was the 17th minute before a fine Eoin Hogan point finally got us on the scoreboard and much relief to the supporters. A surging run down the middle yielded dividend by Gordon Brown moments later when he crashed the ball to the back of the net and now we were back in the game.

Eoghan Kehilly pointed soon after to leave 4 between us and a Eoin Hogan free on the stroke of half time left the scorleine 2-5 to 1-3 at the break.

We began the second half very well linkiing well and 4 Eoin Hogan points later the gap was down to two points 2-6 to 1-7.

However despite a big effort, that was as good as it got for us with Adare grabbing control again as we began to tire.

We had one more point in the closing stages from Kieran Daly and also saw an excellent penalty save from Luke Moylan but all to no avail as Adare ran out winners 2-11 to 1-8.

Team: Luke Moylan, Evan O Brien, Cian Coady, Alan Finnegan, Dean McLoughlin, Kevin Nolan(capt), Gordon Brown(1-0), Eoghan Kehilly(0-1), Tommy Grimes, Eoin Hogan(0-6,4f), Kieran Daly(0-1), Evan Condon, Donal O Connaill, Anthony Kavanagh, Daragh Kennedy.

Subs: Ruairi O Connaill, Graham Culleton, Aaron Costelloe
