Horse and Hound City Senior Hurling Championship Final

Patrickswell and Monaleen contested the Horse and Hound City Senior Hurling Championship Final IN Claughaun on Saturday evening last. Monaleen stared the brighter and were thee points to one ahead after five minutes with points from Mark O Dwyer(f)Mike Doyle and Alan Nicholas, the Patrickswell score a free from Andrew Carroll. Monaleen extended their dominance to lead seven points to two with points from Mark O Dwyer(3) and a point from Shane Mullane , Andrew Carroll replied for Patrickswell with a second free. Patrickswell upped their game and had points from Lar Considine and two fine scores from Captain Jack Kelleher. Kevin O Brien scored a fine goal following a solo through the heart of the Monaleen Defence. Less than a minute later the same player failed to convert after being one and one with the Monaleen keeper. The game entered half time with Monaleen leading on a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-7 after three further points from Mark O Dwyer and points from Andrew Cosgrave and John Nicholas, Patrickswell had a point from Barry Foley.

The second period saw Patrickswell take control and with points from Lar Considine (2) Andrew Carroll, Kevin O Brien (2), Jack Kelleher (2) and a well taken goal from Mark Carmody.  Monaleen's replied with points from Mark O Dwyer (5,4f) and a point from John Nicholas.

Patrickswell despite being without the services of a number of their senior squad had enough talent available to see of a spirited Monaleen side that should take heart from their first half performance.

Mr Jim O'Riordan presented the cup to Patrickswell Captain Jack Kelleher.
