CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Results and Fixtures

The U16 team began their Championship campaign with an away trip to Kilmallock on Sunday evening. The 6.30pm start was delayed by 40 minutes, due to the referee getting a puncture on the way to the venue. This was not ideal preparation for either team or supporters. The championship is 12 aside and so requires extra fitness and commitment from all players. Monaleen set out to score goals and this was the difference between the sides, Aisling Kennedy with 5 and Ruth Heavey and Aoife Doyle with 1 each never allowed Kilmallock to get close on the scoreboard. Despite the goals it was the Monaleen defence of Caitlin Bonfil, Mia O Halloran, Saoirse Lane, Abby McCarty and Charley Drury who forced Kilmallock to shoot for points from distance at the other end. This was the winning of the game as the Kilmallock wide count was costly for the home team. A great victory for Monaleen on a final score of 7-1 to 1-7. This sets the team up nicely for a home match against Kilmallock on Friday evening.

Panel: Aisling Kennedy; Charley Drury; Abby McCarty; Aine Doyle ; Aoife Doyle (1-0); Mia O Halloran; Saoirse Lane; Caitlin Bonfil; Emma Donohoe(0-1); Ellen Regan Magner; Keelin Corcoran; Eimear Morgan; Tara Hogan; Ruth Heavey.

The championship continues for other ages this week also with the U14s playing away to Crecera at 6.30pm on Monday and the Junior girls playing Patrickswell in Old Christians at 7pm on Tuesday.
