UNDER 12 HURLERS

Na Piarsaigh 7-4
St Patrick's.  2-5

Round 3 of this part of the League saw us travel to St Patrick's on Thursday evening. Deciding to play into a reasonably strong breeze we were somewhat slow to start . As with last week we fell behind against the run of play with the hosts getting the opening point. Our defence of Shane Downey and particularly Jack Wall though were holding strong during this period. Jack was playing in the full back roll for the first time and was catching & clearing great ball. Conor Hourigan outside of them was also getting on top and hurling well. Up front, James Linnane was showing very well for the ball and burst in front of his marker to collect a nice ball from Cormac Benson, who was excellent throughout at midfield , to turn and score a delightful point. Josh Sheehan followed with a goal and a point soon after but still the team was settling into the match. St Patrick's finished the half with a deserved goal that we could do little about.
The second half was all change. Rory Hehir was starting to breakdown good ball at centre back and Cormac Benson was everywhere. Clearing some great ball off his left side , the hours of practice becoming evident.  Ben Sheehan started to cause big trouble for the home team and fired two quick goals in succession and a long range point.James Linnane scored another super point after showing great movement in the full forward line. To their credit, the home team keep plugging away and fired over 4 good second half points.
Sam Jordan was playing really well in the half forward line and Adam Jordan was working hard and played with his heart on his sleeve all night.
Jim Beary who was excellent up to now in goals and was providing great ball for the midfielders and forwards to run on to,  came outfield on a swap with James Linnane. Luke Shinnors came more into the game now too and was fighting for every ball. By now Andrew Stack was showing some lovely touches at midfield and sending in great ball to the forwards where Josh Sheehan was making hay scoring 4 more goals.
In the backs Jack Kinsella was again showing very well and cleared 2 great balls after winning them in his own square and bursting out. St Patrick's finished with a deserved goal and the final whistle blew shortly afterwards.
A great learning experience for a lot of the lads and a good win dug out again.

SENIOR HURLERS

Our senior hurlers were back in competitive action following 2 consecutive Championship defeats.
This time it was Knockainey who visited Pairc Dromguil for an All County League game.
It was a pretty close encounter in the first half where we just about shaded affairs by 12 points to 8.
The second half was much approved and goals from Kevin Ryan and Kieran Daly sealed the deal
Final score: Na Piarsaigh 2*27 Knockainey 0-16
