Newcastlewest Victory GAA Dinner

 

On Sat Night last, Newcastle west GAA club hit the road to the Devon Inn to celebrate the success of 2015 with both the minor and Senior Footballer's receiving their medals from both county championship victories. A large crowd were served the finest of food from the Devon inn. Darragh O'Shea Former Kerry senior football was the guest speaker on the night and handled a Q&A session with MC Liam Og Ahearn, Newcastle west and Live 95FM. Everyone on the night showed there eloquence by dancing the night away to Band Free beer . A great night was had by all. A big thanks to the patrons who supported the night, the devon inn for hosting and providing the high quality food and a special mention to club secretary Margret Hannan without whom this night would not have gone so smoothly

 

Newcastlewest U8's

The U8 hurlers are one of the first out of the traps to kickstart the 2016 season. Training will start this Saturday the 6th of February in the all weather pitch from 10am-11am. Pat Horgan manager. All U8's welcome.

All in Newcastlewest  G.A.A. Would like to Congratulate to Liam Lenihan former Limerick G.A.A. Chairman on being elected as Munster GAA Vice Chairman last weekend.


SMI VS BEARA

SMI are playing Beara Community College in Snr Colleges (U18 1/2)  Munster Football Final.  As a club we have a total of 17 players involved.  The game goes ahead in Dr Crokes pitch Killarney on Saturday at 12 noon.  All support greatly appreciated

Limerick G.A.A Looking for New Referees:

Limerick G.A.A. Will hold a Referees course for all those who is interested in taking up refereeing. The basic level 1 referee course will take place on the Tuesday 9th February and Thursday 25th February in the U.L. North Campus. If you want to book a place for the course, please contact Limerick Referee administrator Michael Meade at 087-6881599 A.S.A.P. 

 

The referee and his fellow match officials are entrusted with a weighty role - to apply the rules of our games. Gaelic Games is unique in that the team of match officials consists of a referee, two linesmen, four umpires and the sideline official.

The essential role, responsibility and privilege of the team of match officials is to apply the rules in order to create the conditions for our games to be played well. Proper application of the rules creates these conditions. In that way we will value those players that play with skill, courage, commitment, genius, flair, strength and legitimate aggression.

How do I become a Referee?

The first thing to do, is to contact your local Referee Administrator or Recruitment Officer who will give you details on upcoming GAA Referee Foundation Course in your local area, which you will have to complete before you can referee games. GAA Club Referee Course will take 3 nights to complete and will be delivered by GAA Referee Tutors.
