U21 County Championship
Fr. Caseys 2-09 Tory Gaels 2-04

Fr. Caseys U21 Footballers faced Tory Gaels last Saturday in Mick Neville Park with both teams having already qualified for the county quarter finals and now battling to top the group. This fixture was a repeat of the 2014 County Minor Final, which ended in a narrow victory for Fr. Caseys so another tough test was expected. Two early points from the boot of Adrian Enright and Jamie O'Connor placed Fr. Caseys into an early lead before Tory Gaels kicked their opening point. A converted free from Cormac Roche was soon followed by a well taken goal from Jamie O'Connor. Leading now by 5 points Fr. Caseys stretched that margin to 8 points with scores from Adrian Enright, Paudie Smith and Jamie O'Connor. It looked like Fr. Caseys were running away with victory but Tory Gaels finally found their rhythm in the closing stages of the half and pulled back three points before the half time whistle to leave the scores at 1-06 to 0-04 at the break.

Tory Gaels needed a bright start to the second half and that is exactly what they got with a goal shortly after the restart. Jamie O'Connor steadied proceedings with his fifth score of the day but Tory Gaels soon rattled the Fr. Caseys net for a second time and suddenly the teams were level. From commanding the game, Fr. Caseys now had a major battle on their hands. Credit to Fr. Caseys however as Tory Gaels would fail to register any more scores in the final quarter. Fr. Caseys in return would kick 1-02 without reply, a brace of points from Jack Breen and a goal from Adrian Enright. In the end Fr. Caseys ran out victors with 5 points to spare. The full time score was Fr. Caseys 2-09, Tory Gaels 2-04. This was a tough encounter for Fr. Caseys but the team played very well and responded well under pressure. Next up is the county quarter finals in two weeks time with their opponents to be decided in the coming week.
