JUNIOR HURLERS

Congratulations to our junior hurlers who were crowned City Junior hurling Champions following a good victory over St Patrick's in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday.

Played in excellent conditions at headquarters we began well with early points from Gordon Brown and Evan Egan from play and frees.

The main difference in the half were two excellent goals courtesy of Pat McCarthy and Eoin Hogan both dispatched in style.

We were hurling well with our defence in particular looking solid superbly led by Brian Hartnett at full back and Conor Houlihan at center back.

We led at the break 2-8 to 1-8 following some very good hurling.

In the second half we again hurled well with some good scores from Dylan Cronin, Eoghan Keogh, Gordon Brown and Evan Egan's accuracy from frees.

At the other end Evan Condon produced an excellent save to keep St Pats at bay at a crucial period of the second half.

Further scores from Robert Sheehan, Paul McNamara and Evan Egan sealed the deal and a final score of Na Piarsaigh 2-18 St Patricks 1-13

The received a very special visit from 4 of the Under 21 All Ireland winning team along with the trophies.

Ronan Lynch, Peter Casey, David Dempsey and Michael Casey were in attendance and the kids were delighted to be photographed with them.

We are sending out a request to all former players and parents to have a look in your garages for unused helmets.
