County Intermediate Championship
Glin 1-5
Galbally 1-14
We played Galbally in the final round of the County Intermediate championship recently. With our survival in the grade assured, only pride was a stake on the night against a Galbally side aiming to reach the knock out stages. We started extremely well, exhibiting a brand of fluid attacking football and went five points to no score up after 20 minutes. Mark Culhane kicked 3 fine points and Jack Fitzgerald raised white flags with two left foot efforts in that opening period. Unfortunately Galbally came back into the game with a lucky goal and had pulled ahead by half time.
In the second half, we found scores much harder to come by but the stand out moment was when James Wallace found the back of the net for his first championship goal.
As this was our final match of the season, we must give great thanks to the management team of Patrick Madigan, John A. Culhane, Liam Long and David Horan along with Mike O'Shaughnessy and Billy Martin for their assistance during the year. 2015 may not have panned out as we would have liked but with everyone fit and available, there is no doubt that the football played in the opening period against Galbally can be replicated on a more consistent basis in 2016. Glin GAA would like to thank all our supporters and friends for their support during the year.
