Co. Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 5
St. Kieran's 0-13
Mungret 1-20
As the score line suggests, we were comprehensively beaten by a strong Mungret side in our final group game of this year's County Intermediate hurling championship in Croagh on Friday evening last. We started quite well with Donie Nolan keeping the scoreboard ticking over from placed balls, and trailed by 0-08 to 0-06 after 23 minutes. From this point on the wheels began to come off however. We were reduced to fourteen men when the match referee made a highly dubious decision to give one of our players his marching orders for a minor infringement. To compound matters we then had a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed. Mungret tagged on a number of scores in quick succession before the half time whistle and from here on we were always chasing the game. We continued to battle hard in the second half but the game was effectively out of our reach. The defeat means that we will be entered into the County Cup again this year with Newcastle West providing the opposition. The date, time and venue for this fixture has yet to be confirmed.
Panel: John Greaney, James Windle, Paudie McCarthy, Mikie Breen, Sean Windle, Brendan McCarthy, Maurice Shine, Darragh Treacy, Jack Ben Hartnett, Donie Nolan, Anthony Molyneaux, Seamus Mangan, Ian Mackassey, Jonathan Ruttle, Danny Collum, Cillian Ambrose, Michael Enright, Paddy Hartnett

Minor Football
The minor footballers faced St. Senan's on Tuesday of last week in the West Minor B football championship semi final. The game was abandoned with ten minutes remaining when a St. Senan's player sustained a serious injury, with little separating the sides at the time. The replay took place last night and there will be a full report in next week's edition. The prize for the winner is a final date with a Granagh/Ballingarry and Banogue combination who defeated Daithi Brudair's by 4-17 to 1-05 in the other semi final.

Finally for our own Mayo man living in Limerick but nowadays playing for Dublin! A huge congratulations to Daniel Geraghty who played in the Primary games in Croke Park last Sunday. Daniel played midfield for the "Dublin " team. He played very well, got a lot of ball and set up the first goal. Well done Daniel.
