Senior Football Championship Round 2 .
New Castle West 0 - 11
Na Piarsaigh 0-4.
In the second round county championship match last Friday in Ballyagran we faced last year's Intermediate champions Na Piarsaigh. Having already faced them in the county league we knew a tough game was in store for us. In what was an at times impressive display from us , where we dominated the middle third of the field . We led at the interval by 5 points to 1 . In the second half we pushed on again and opened up a 9 point to 1 lead with 10 minutes remaining . Na Piarsaigh rallied in the closing stages and indeed for a missed penalty by our opponents could have made the game a closer affair. None the less we never looked in any great danger and tagged on another couple of points to run out comfortable 11 point to 4 winners. All in all a decent display and we move on to the 3rd round against St .Kierans on the week end of the 6th , 7th or 8th June with 2 wins from 2 .

West Senior Hurling Qtr Final.
Newcastle West 2-09 .
Knochkaderry 1-11.
On Sunday last we defeated close neighbours Knockaderry by 1 point the west senior hurling championship by 1 point in a game that we led from start to finish. This was an improved display from our previous outing against Hospital in the Co. Championship. Based on a solid defensive display especially from our full back line and a hard working display from our Midfield with impressive displays from Michael Quilligan and Jamie Lee we lead at the break by 2-05 to 0-06.
Knockaderry enjoyed a purple patch early on the second half to reduce the arrears to 1 points due to a fortuitous goal . From there it was nip and tuck for the remainder of the second half , but as in recent weeks our fitness levels allowed us to finish stronger and win the game by the minimum which was great testament to the lads considering we had 8 dual players in action. This was a good win and moves us on to the west semi final in which our opponents and date are to be confirmed.

NCW 4-06 Monaleen 1-01
The U11's also continued their campaign campaign against a strong Monaleen outfit, Newcastle west dominated in the possession stakes but found it difficult to breakdown the stron Nonaleen defence in the first half and led slightly at half time. In the second half, the game opened up allowing our boys to make ultimate use of possession and played extremely well to put monaleen to the sword. Well done to all.
