Galbally club notes

April 20, 2015

The official launch of the Galbally GAA Dog/Family Fun Night on 13th June took place last Friday night at O'Connell's Bar. It was a hugely successful and well supported event and Galbally GAA are delighted to announce that Seamie & Johnny Morrissey and Pat McCarthy have come on board as major sponsors of this event. If anyone else wishes to become a sponsor, please contact Declan Hickey on 085-1744974. The night itself promised to be an excellent Family Fun night with a Clown, Facepainting, Balloons, and other attractions. Tickets will be sold on the night for a Monster Raffle and the prizes will include a flat screen TV, a tablet, a Nutribullet amongst other items. Tickets will be on sale in the coming days.

Pride of place this week goes to the Under 14 team who qualified for the National Feile Na nGael Peil competition for the second year in a row after beating Fr Caseys 2-6 to 0-3 in the final. We face a trip to Carlow, Wicklow or Wexford in late June. This is a fantastic achievement considering that the majority of last year's successful Feile team are now overage. It bodes well for the future of the club. The team was: Kevin Cooke, Robert Sampson, Peter O'Dwyer, Jordan Dineen, Micheal O'Donnell, Keane Baker, Shane Hanrahan, Eoin O'Mahony, Brian Heavey, Josh Dineen, Ciaran Sheehan (Capt), Eoin McGrath, Patrick McGrath, Peter Morrissey, Aidan Carew. Subs: Jack O'Reilly, Ciaran Beston, Adam Sheehan, Nathan O'Mahony, Conor Finnan, Eoin O'Sullivan. Team Management: Martin Dineen, Donie Mahoney, Liam O'Dwyer, Kieran Hickey. Secretary: Michael McCabe. First Aid: Noreen Quinlan.

The U16 team played Ballyhoura Gaels in Galbally and won by 3-13 to 3-05. Team: Conor O'Mahony, Michael O'Dwyer, Fionn Flanagan, Darragh Bourke, Mark Quinlan, James Cummins, Eoin Sheehan, Roibeard Donovan, Jack Houlihan, Adam Slattery, Dylan Corbett, Joseph Johnston, Darragh Keogh, Cian McCarthy, Patrick Gleeson. Subs: Michael McCabe, Cathal Flynn, Callum Sheehan, Ben Coughlan, Anthony Cormack.

The Intermediate team were beaten by 4-12 to 0-14 by Bruff in the South Intermediate Football Championship. The team was: Kevin Denihan, Donal Halligan, Eoin Bourke, Billy Donoghue, Henry Leahy, Cathal Shanahan, Eoin Halligan, Kieran Hickey, Sean Kearney, Pa Murphy, Vinny O'Connell, Nathan Byrnes, Gary McCarthy, Darren Sheedy, Ger Quinlan. Subs: James Ryan, Tom Harty, Aidan Sheehan, Andy O'Brien. The first round of the County Intermediate Football Championship will take place in Hospital on this Saturday 25th April at 7pm against Cappamore. Please support the side especially as the game is relatively local and will not involve a lot of travelling.
