Senior Hurling
Ahane Senior hurlers were involved in two competitive matches over the Easter weekend.
On Good Friday evening we saw action in Cappamore when we played Pallasgreen in the East Senior Cup Semi-final.  Ahane played some constructive hurling in the early stages of the game with some fine scores resulting from good passing movements, Ahane were aided by a stiff breeze at that point. At half time we seemed comfortably in front but injuries to some key players halted our momentum. In hurling games, if you loose the initiative, it can be difficult to regain it again, this happened on this occasion. At the end of 60 minutes, both teams ended level. Ahane had the better of the exchanges in extra time with Tom Doheny firing over a good point to secure the result which sends Ahane forward to the East Cup Final.
Less than 24 hours later Ahane were again in action, this time against Doon in Mackey Park in the premier division of the All County League. Both teams defied very poor underfoot conditions and produced some fine passages of play. It was a high scoring game which Doon finally emerged as winners on a scoreline of Doon 4.17 Ahane 2.20. The senior team management will be pleased with the weekend matches which no doubt will help in Ahane's preparation for our County Championship Clash with beaten All Ireland Club finalists Kilmallock which is scheduled for the May Bank Holiday weekend
