SENIOR HURLERS

Our senior hurlers were doubly engaged over the weekend with two games in quick succession.

On Saturday we hosted Murroe Boher in round one of the All County Hurling League.

We began very brightly and linked well between backs and forwards.

We got some excellent scores from all over the field but none moreso than from David Sheppard who helped himself to four goals in the sixty minutes two in each half.

Shane Dowling also added a  goal before the interval to leave us well in control 3-15 to .0-7

We had some good performances from Gordon Brown,Kieran Kennedy and Mikey Foley at the back while upfront David Dempsey, David Breen and David Sheppard were to the fore along with Kevin Ryan in goals who was prominent

Final Score Na Piarsaigh 5-23 Murroe Boher 0-20

Team:  Kevin Ryan, Gordon Brown, Mark Buckley, Kieran Kennedy, Ronan Lynch)0-1), Cathal King(0-1), Mikey Foley, Alan Dempsey(0-2), Pat Gleeson(0-1), James O Brien(0-1), David Breen(0-4), Adrian Breen, David Dempsey(4-0), Shane Dowling(1-7), David Dempsey(0-4),  Subs: William O Donoghue(0-1), Eoghan keogh(0-1)

Twenty four hours later Monaleen were our visitors for the City Senior Hurling semi final.

Playing against a stiff breeze our opponents were profitting from some long range shooting and were level at the interval 2-10 to 0-16 with our goals coming from David Sheppard and Shane Dowling from a penalty.

Two further goals in the second half from Evan Egan and Adrian Breen had us in the driving seat and were deserving but tired winners.

A good couple of days for the team and lots for Shane O Neill and co to ponder.
