Galbally club notes

April 07, 2015

The Galbally Féile Peil Under-14 team took another step in their bid to retain their title beating St Kierans in the County Semi Final on Sunday on a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-11. After a titanic battle at Mick Neville Park Rathkeale, they earned the right to face a strong Fr Caseys outfit in the final on April 19th. The following was the squad Eoin McGrath, Patrick McGrath, Kevin Cooke, Nathan O'Mahoney, Robert Sampson, Micheal O'Donnell, Keane Baker, Shane Hanrahan, Joshua Dineen, Jordan Dineen, Peter Morrissey, Eoin O Mahoney, Brian Heavey, Aidan Carew, Jack O Reilly, Peter O'Dwyer, Ciaran Sheehan, Adam Sheehan, Ciaran Beston. Almost immediately after the game at the same venue, the Limerick Under 21 hurling manager and Galbally club man John Kiely was in action as the Limerick Under 21 team took on the Limerick Intermediates in a challenge game. It is a huge honour for Galbally GAA to have a former player, team mentor, former officer (and future officer!) in charge of such a team in one of the most important competitions in the GAA calendar.

The Intermediate Football team will play in the South Intermediate Championship this Thursday night 9th April and are due to meet Cappamore in the first round of the Intermediate Championship on the weekend of 26th April. Please double check times for both fixtures. Ivy Hill Bart represented Galbally GAA in the Final of the Con and Annie Kirby stake and finished in 5th place netting €1000 for the club. We have won a total of €11,000 within 12 months in this competition. Galbally GAA wish to offer a sincere thanks to JP and Noreen McManus for their generosity through a fantastic GAA club association with Greyhound Racing. Thanks also to the supporters who attended on the night and a special thanks to those who attended for each of the five successive Saturday nights at Limerick Greyhound Track. Thanks also to the underage boys who carried the banner in the parade on the night.
