Ballybrown club notes

March 30, 2015

FEILE NA NGAEL Pride of place must go this week to our under 14 team in the Feile quarter final against Kilmallock where they recorded a great victory. Ballybrown who have a large panel managed to give all their players a run in the match. We now face Mungret in the semifinal on the weekend of 10 April in what will be a much bigger challenge and we wish them luck.

SENIOR HURLING CHALLENGES Ballybrown played two challenge matches this week. We played J K Brackens on Friday night under lights and came away with a win on a scoreline of 3-19 to 1-14 and on Sunday we played Ballina in terrible conditions and again won on a scoreline 1-14 to 0-08. With Peter O Rourke scored 1-01 after coming on as a sub it all adds to building a strong panel as we face into the championship. Our next outing is on Tuesday 7 April when we take on Patrickswell in the second round of the county league.

MINOR HURLING Our minor hurlers played St. Kierans in a challenge match on Sunday morning at home in miserable weather conditions. Ballybrown whose under 21 team suffered from injuries earlier in the year find our minors are in similar trouble with four players out injured at the moment. However they went on to produce a fine performance winning comfortably and hopefully come championship time those injuries will have cleared up. Ballybrown face South Liberties in the first round and it is fixed for Friday 10 April at home but the date is likely to change.
