Limerick down to the bare bones

Limerick's David Breen

Limerick manager TJ Ryan could struggle to put out a team in Saturday's Waterford Crystal Cup semi-final against UCC.

The Limerick Leader is reporting that Ryan is currently working off a panel of 21 players and that five of those are injury doubts for the game in Kilmallock. David Breen is in danger of missing the start of the Allianz League after tearing his quad muscle in last weekend's win over Waterford.

The Treaty County had only 19 fully fit players for that game, and are facing a similar situation this weekend due to injuries and the unavailability of players who are college and club-tied.

Among those missing are Kevin Downes, Seanie Tobin and Breen (injured), the Kilmallock contingent of Gavin O'Mahony, Paudie O'Brien, Graeme Mulcahy and Barry Hennessy, who are preparing for next month's All-Ireland club SHC semi-final against Portaferry, and Declan Hannon, David Reidy, Seanie O'Brien and Aaron Murphy, who are currently involved with their college teams.
