Limerick set for Cheltenham trip

Limerick's senior hurlers will travel to Cheltenham next month as part of a team holiday provided by team sponsor JP McManus, the Irish Examiner reports.

TJ Ryan's team reached a second successive Munster final before pushing eventual All-Ireland winners Kilkenny all the way at the semi-final stage and it was confirmed yesterday that they will enjoy the autumn open festival in Cotswolds on the weekend of November 14-16.

Martinstown billionaire sponsors the Treaty County's teams through his philanthropic Sporting Limerick initiative and has made several generous donations in the past, including presenting the county board with a €4million gift towards the cost of the Gaelic Grounds' development.
