Na Piarsaigh GAA club notes

Intermediate Camogie
The Intermediate girls were in County Semi Final action on Saturday night when they made the journey to west Limerick and Croagh GAA club to take on crack Kerry outfit Clanmaurice.

Minus the services of several of our regulars this was always going to be a tough ask and that's just what it was.

We began well with good performances from Sinead McNamara, Katie Campbell, Aideen McNamara, Michelle Fahy and Olivia Barrett while upfront Gemma Healy and Aoife Wilson work tirelessly to curb the Kerry dominance.

As the half wore on it was evident that we were in a serious battle and trailed 1-8 to a point at half time.

The concession of a few soft goals put paid to our challenge but nevertheless our girls showed a never say die attitude and battled to the very end.

A very successful season so comes to a close with plenty to look forward to for next season.

The team for the record was Laura O Neill, Sarah Connors, Michelle Fahy, Fiona Shannon, Katie Campbell(capt), Sinead McNamara, Olivia Barrett, Aideen McNamara, Claire Casey, Roisin McNamara, Aoife Wilson, Gemma Healy, Leanne Egan, Jane Kirwan, Ciara Hogan. Subs: Emma Guinane

Intermediate Footballers

The Intermediate Footballers were back in Championship action on Saturdaywhen they travelled to Askeaton to take on Feohangh Castlemahon in the County Quarter Final.

This was a close fought affair with little between the sides from start to finish.

Our backs playing particularly well superbly marshalled by Cian Coady and Kevin Nolan.

In midfield Eoghan Kehilly and William O Donoghue played well and supplied good ball to the forwards while upfront the Shannon brothers, Alan Dempsey and kieran daly were prominent.

Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-14 Feohanagh Castlemahon 2-7.

Team: Brendan Donnelly, Alan Finnegan, Cian Coady, Dean McLoughlin, Mark Buckley, Kevin Nolan, Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, William O Donoghue, Brian Shannon, Aaron Costelloe, Eoin Hogan, Kieran Daly, Alan Dempsey, Noel Shannon. Subs used: Evan Egan, Dylan Cronin, Mikey Roberts, Daragh Kennedy.

Next up are Cappamore in the semi final fixed for next weekend.

Under 12 Hurlers

Last Sunday our u/12 hurlers played knockaderry in a great game. Knockaderry had their pitch in great condition and both teams played with great skill throughout. Na Piarsaigh settled very well and raced into an early lead with Patrick o Neill  & Cian Brosnan playing particularly well. The highlight of this first half was a tremendous point from Marcus Hogan who continues his recent good form. Although our lads enjoyed a comfortable half time lead , knockaderry dominated the early period of the 2nd and narrowed the margin between the two sides considerably. It took 2 excellent opportunistic scores from Charles Hogan & James naughton to seal the victory. Shane Kelly was excellent with his puck outs throughout while John Fitzgerald?  Jj Carey and colm Downey also had outstanding performances . Well done all.

Under 14 Hurlers

Our under 14 hurlers got the chance to play at headquarters during the week when we took on Doon in the Gaelic Grounds under lights.

We were on the front  foot from the throw in and got some great scores throughout.

Full forward James Daly in particular showed his worth chipping in with 3 -3 inside the first half.

We led at the break 4-11 to 0-1 and increased our lead in the second half with some fine scores.

We now look forward to a final with Patrickswell in near future.

Team: Barry Dunworth, Keith Dempsey, Mark Daly, Robert Duffy, Shane Harney, Sean Long, Ralph Leonard, David Ryan, Adam McNamara, Eoghan Sherlock, Emmett McEvoy, Harry O Donnell, Conor Stack, David O Byrne, James Daly

Under 12 Footballers

Our under 12 footballers were doubly engaged last week with games against Murroe Boher and Oola.

We performed very well against a strong Murroe team and got some great scores from JJ Carey, Dylan Lynch and Marcus Hogan but Murroe ran out victors in the end.

Our second game was against a very game Oola side. This was an exciting game which went right to the wire with a last minute Sean O Halloran goal giving is a one point win.We had good performances from Pat O Neill, Cian Brosnan, Stephen Mitchell and Cathal Hassett.

Team: Jamie Pearce, Cathal Hassett, Stephen Mitchell, Dylan Lynch, Dillon Skehan, JJ Carey, Marcus Hogan, Charles Hogan, Sean O Halloran, Cian Brosnan, Pat O Neill, Frankie Naughton, Clum Dunworth.
