COUNTY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown  all but exited this years County championship when going down to South Liberties on Tuesday evening on a score line Ballybrown 0-18 South Liberties 2-13. Ballybrown started well and led seven points to one after fifteen minutes but sloppy play from Ballybrown at this stage allowed Liberties back into the game and they scored one three to level matters. Ballybrown upped their game and scored five points on the trot with Liberties scoring the last point of the half to leave the score 0-12 to 1-05 at half time. The second half saw a much improved Liberties who scored three early points but these were cancelled out by frees from Alan O Connor. Four points for Liberties levelled matters with seven minutes on the clock. Points were again exchanged then Ballybrown hit two points to put us up two points deep into injury time. Liberties were awarded a side line cut five minutes into injury time and Ballybrown hearts were broken when the ball somehow found the back of the net. The final whistle sounded with the puck out. This leaves us with an up hill battle to avoid relegation as we need to beat Munster champions NaPiarsaigh in our last match to do so. On this occasion Ballybrown mixed some excellent periods of play with some awful periods and they will know that they will need to hurl for sixty minutes if they hope to beat NaPiarsaigh

COUNTY MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Played in Pallasgreen on Friday evening, this was a very hard fought and entertaining match. Ballybrown led at half time 1-05 to 0-07 with our scores coming from Killian Gavin 0-03 David Downes 1-00 Ross Griffen and Arron O Reilly 0-01 point each. Pallasgreen got the dream start with a goal from the throw in and followed it up with a point, Niall Quane Ross Griffen and two points from Killian Gavin levelled matters with twelve minutes to go. Pallasgreen out scored us in the last ten minutes by 1-05 to 1-01 with our point coming from Killian Gavin and the goal from the penalty spot from Ross Griffen but this does not do justice to what was a fine display.

JUNIOR B CITY CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown played their last match in this years championship when going down to Kildimo/Pallaskenry on a score line of Ballybrown 0-11 Kildimo 2-12. Ballybrown were on top for much of the first half but didnt convert their superiority into scores. Kildimo/Pallaskenry upped their game in the second half and some great hurling had both teams deadlocked with ten minutes to go. Ballybrown were visably beginning to tire when Kildimo struck for a crucial goal which proved decisive. Ballybrown were awarded a penalty after Niall Doolin had the ball in the back of the net, and when the resultant penalty was saved our challenge faded. This team can be very disappointed not to have made the semi finals after some excellent displays in this years championship.

JUNIOR A CITY CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown put the disappointment of last weeks loss to St. Pats well and truly behind them with an excellent performance against Crecora on Sat night. After a slow start both teams found their range and were level at six points apeace at half time. Ballybrown scored three points in a row at the start of the second half only to have their good play cancelled out by a sucker punch goal to level matters. Amazingly this proved to be Crecora's only score in the second half as Ballybrown went on a scoring spree and scored two goals and seven points to run out comfortable winners on a score line Ballybrown 2-16 Crecora 1-06 Scores for Ballybrown Andrew Cliffe 0-02 Peter O Rourke 0-03 Cian Hedderman 0-01 Killian Cliffe 1-01 Patrick Hartigan 0-03 Killian Gavin 0-03 Brian Hartigan 1-00 Mark Sheehan and Ivan Conway 0-01 point apeace.
