County Senior Football Championship: St. Kieran's vs. Newcastlewest
After securing three wins in their opening three matches the senior footballers face their toughest test to date when they face off against rivals Newcastlewest in round 4 of the County Championship on Saturday evening. Newcastlewest come into the game on a rich vein of form fresh off their West Championship triumph three weeks ago and a hard-fought win over Adare last week in round three of the Championship for their second win in the group stage after an opening round defeat to Fr. Casey's. On our side morale is high after an eight point victory over Galbally last Wednesday evening in which the team withstood a second half Galbally fight back when they got their deficit back to a solitary point to push on late and secure a comfortable eight point victory. the manner of the victory over Galbally was particularly pleasing given the disappointment of our west final performance when we only registered two scores in sixty minutes. Scoring 1.16 against Galbally was a timely confidence boost going into what will be a vital game in the pursuit of a semi final berth. Traditionally Kieran's and Newcastlewest games have been hotly contested encounters with very little between either side, so far this campaign both sides have met on two occasions with Newcastlewest stealing victory at the final whistle in our county league encounter in Coolcappagh before a comprehensive victory in the West Final. when both sides met in the championship last campaign we recovered excellently from a disastrous opening fifteen minutes to come back and take victory by two points en route to a place in the county semi final. Saturday's game promises to be another mouth-watering encounter, the game throws in at 7.00 in the Bog Garden Rathkeale.

West Junior 'B' Football Quarter Final: St. Kieran's 3.9 Knockaderry 1.7
The junior footballers advanced to the West Semi Final thanks to a dominant first half performance on Monday evening last in Monagea. Missing a number of first team regulars due to injury and work commitments added to losing a number of players to the senior football panel recently the manner of the victory was very pleasing given that we came up against a Knockaderry side who are the only first team in the West Championship. We began the game brightly up front with Chris Madigan and Seamus Madigan in particular showing well for possession and were rewarded for their early efforts with both registering early points to get us on our way. Once we got on the score sheet we found our feet and our superior level of football began to show as we kept possession well. At the back the vast experience of Nicky Kelly was vital throughout as he was there on a multitude of occasions to sniff out any oncoming Knockaderry attacks which focused primarily on trying to force the ball through the middle for goals. to be fair to the six backs and goalkeeper Tommy Quinn they held firm throughout the whole game and apart from the penalty they were watertight. Two first half goals from Chris Madigan and Anthony Liston gave us a comprehensive 2.6 to 0.3 lead going in at the break with Knockaderry showing a late fightback in the half to register three late points. playing against the elements in the second period the management spoke of the team needing to maintain the same level of commitment in the second period if we were to advance. Knockaderry upped their game in the half playing with the wind but our backs held firm to withstand the pressure. Up front scores were hard to come by now as Knockaderry poured forward. following a turnover in play by Knockaderry we moved the ball quickly up the field where Mike Enright got on the end of the play to rifle the ball into the back of the net past the helpless Knockaderry keeper to wrap up the game and secure a semi final berth against Glin in two weeks time.
