Limerick forward Declan Hannon has revealed that the loss of influential captain Donal O'Grady was a motivating factor for them in their win over Wexford.

The Shannonsiders ran out 24-point winners over the Model County as they booked their place in the All-Ireland semi final where they will face Kilkenny.

The loss of O'Grady could have been a huge blow to Limerick and they will want him back fully fit for the clash against the Cats.

Hannon admitted to the Limerick Leader that the players wanted to get back to Croke Park and to do so for their talismanic captain.

"Dodge is an inspirational leader as everyone can see. He really rallies the troops," said Hannon. "We wanted to kinda do it for him, because we wanted to get back to Croke Park."
