Mike O Connell's Menswear Catherine Street City Intermediate Hurling Championship Final.

Kildimo/Pallaskenry took on Na Piarsiagh in Clarina last Saturday evening in the Mike O' Connell's Menswear Catherine Street City Intermediate Hurling Championship Final. Kildimo/Pallas started well and had two quick points from Barry O'Connell and a point from Tony McCarthy. Na Piarsiagh responded in appropriate fashion and following a long delivery into the goal area that was parried by the keeper the ball was rifled to the net by an inrushing forward to leave the scores level. Adrian Garvey had a point for Kildimo/Pallas before Barry O'Connell was replaced due to injury by Gerard McKeogh. Na Piarsiagh had points from Pat Gleeson (free) and David Sheppard. Mikey Dillon (1) and John Chawke added three points one a free before Tony McCarthy added a further point for the Kildimo/Pallas side. Pat Gleeson had a free for the City side before Martin Nunnan hit a massive long range effort in reply. As the first half drew to a close Kildimo/Pallas threw everything at Na Piarsiagh and were rewarded when John Chawke flashed a ground ball to the net. The half time score was Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-9 Na Piarsiagh 1-5. The second half saw Na Piarsiagh respond early on and had four pointed frees from Pat Gleeson and a point from David Sheppard to a single pointed free in response from John Chawke. Scores level all to play for and the city boys took the lead with a point but Kildimo/Pallas were not going down easy and responded with four points two each from John Chawke and Captain Mikey Dillon. The final score was Kildimo Pallaskenry 1-14 Na Piarsiagh 1-11. Cian Hayes was in fine form in the first half and the influential John Chawke was a threat throughout the game for Kildimo/Pallas. Na Piarsiagh had fine performances from Aidan Hennessy and Pat Gleeson. There were scenes of delight from the Kildimo/Pallaskenry supporters as the cup was presented to Captain Mikey Dillon by City Board Chairman Jim O'Riordan.
