MONALEEN CAMOGIE:
U12: Our U12 Camogie girls had their second blitz of the season in Patrickswell on a sun soaked Saturday 19th April. Monaleen were unfortunate to go down by a point to the Na Piarsaigh girls in the first match of the day (3-2 to 3-1), with Mungret getting the better of the second match, winning by a goal in a close contest (2-1 to 1-1). For the final match against Patrickswell, the Monaleen girls showed great skill and determination to win by a considerable margin (7-1 to 3-0). Throughout the day, Lucy D'Arcy and Ella Hession were dominant in the half back and half forward positions respectively, with the midfield pairing of Grace Clohessy and Eimar Morgan working tirelessly. Rachel Shinners in goal and Laura Burke in the back line continue to improve with each outing and are among the most improved players of the season so far. Many thanks to Patrickswell for a great day had by all. Well done to all the girls! And we look forward to hosting the next blitz in Monaleen on Saturday May 3rd.
Team: Rachel Shinners, Francesca Kearns, Juliette Pinson, Laura Burke, Lucy D'Arcy, Grace Clohessy, Eimar Morgan, Ella Hession, Mia O'Halloran, Aoife Doyle, Niamh Moloney, Emily O'Brien, Kerrie Carey, Susan D'Arcy, Leah McNamara.
U14 League continued on Tuesday with an away match v Patrickswell. The Monaleen girls started well playing with a strong breeze and with Aisling Kennedy, Kealin Corcoran and Aine Doyle getting the scores built a strong half time lead. Starting the second half 3-4 to 0-0 ahead the girls knew the second half would be a different game as the wind had strengthened. The full back line of Tara Hogan, Fiona Fitzpatrick & Sarah Quilligan defended well and although Patrickswell scored 1-5 in this half the result was never in doubt. That's 3 wins from 4 matches and with girls coming back from injury the panel is getting stronger and the girls are growing in confidence.
Monaleen: Fiona Fitzpatrick; Aine Nelligan; Katie Golden; Maeve Rea; Ellen Regan Magner; Caitlin Bonfil; Aine Doyle (1-4); Aisling Fitzgerald; Aisling Kennedy (1-2); Kealin Corcoran(1-0); Ciara O Driscoll; Tara Hogan; Sarah Quilligan; Lucy Darcy.
