Important Championship Weekend

The first championship weekend of the year is almost upon us and the time for talking is nearly over. First of all it is important to note that our club is very grateful for the support received so far this year as the people of the parish and beyond have given a tremendous boost to Fr. Casey's GAA, both in supporting our club draws and in supporting our club initiatives. Now though, it's time to support the teams and players as they set out to make their mark on the respective championships.
The seniors take on near neighbours Newcastlewest on Friday in Dromcollogher in what is expected to be a tough encounter. Manager David Keating and coach Liam Kearns will be hoping for a big performance from their players and although there are some injury concerns, they will have the team ready for battle on Friday evening.
The junior team will head to Newcastlewest on Saturday with a strong team with a great blend of youth and experience. The minors will be playing Mungret away and will be hoping to take all the points in what is a tough start to their championship campaign.

County Intermediate Football League
Fr. Caseys 2-06, St. Senans 2-09
Fr. Casey's were beaten on Saturday evening by a very strong St. Senan's team but showed glimpses of potential that Maurice Flynn, Liam McNally and, the man you can always bank on, J.D. Foley will be hoping to bring forward into the first round of the championship this weekend.
Caher man Sean O'Donnell returned to the Fr. Casey's team for the first time this year and contributed with an excellent personal tally of 1-03. Postman Sean Scannell was delivering the ball more accurately than he delivers letters as he was hitting his target every time. Horse trainer Thomas Cahill was on hand to gather excellent possession around the middle and when he wasn't whipping the ball out to his half back line, he was hoofing it accurately to the full forward line. John Lenihan again got on the score sheet with a respectable 1-02. His goal came from a penalty, but in typical Lenihan style, he roofed it giving the keeper no chance. A fantastic point from Chris Smith was another highlight as his speed and skill shone through in this game. Although there are areas which need to be improved on, the team is now well equipped and battle hardened for championship.

Limerick Development Draw
The first Limerick Development Draw of 2014 took place last Saturday morning, broadcast live on Limerick's 95FM Sports programme between 10 and 11am. Unfortunately our club had no winners this month but there are another nine draws remaining for our fortune to change. The next draw will be held on Saturday May 3rd. Once more the draw will be broadcast live on radio. We wish everyone involved the very best of luck.

In total there are 10 monthly draws from March to December. The top prize each month is €13,000, with a host of other cash prizes and vouchers to be won. The cost of entry is €10 per draw. Half of the money collected is returned to our local GAA Club so we strongly encourage all club members and supporters to join the draw. The Limerick Development Draw has been one of our best sources of finance in recent years and these funds are vital to continue the development of our club. If you would like to join the draw or find out more information please feel free to contact our draw coordinator Liam O'Connor on 087 9267039.
