West Intermediate Semi-Final
Fr. Caseys 2-10, Mountcollins 1-09
On Friday 11th April our Junior team won the semi-final of the West Intermediate Championship against a tough Mountcollins outfit. Fr. Casey's got off to a great start as carpenter John Lenihan won an early penalty after being nailed as he headed for goal. Tommy Smith confidently converted the spot kick, dispatching it to the right hand corner of the net. Another point for Smith and an excellent strike from Cormac Roche extended the Fr. Casey's lead. However, a Mountcollins soon got a score of their own as a quick attack forced an excellent save from keeper James O'Mara who tipped the ball over the crossbar. A pointed free from Mountcollins was then followed up by a point from Lenihan before horse trainer Denis Fitzgerald galloped forward to strike for an excellent Fr. Casey's score. Lenihan was on the scoresheet again soon as he hammered the ball to the roof of the net before he struck for another point from a placed ball. One of our young players Jamie O'Connor then finished off a great move to give our team a strong position at half time. Mountcollins began the second half stronger and managed to score more freely as the first half effort from the Abbeyfeale began to take its toll. However, Jamie O'Connor scored an excellent point and Smith again maintained his composure in front of goal to kick three frees. Although the Mountcollins men continued to apply pressure up to the very end, engineer Micheal Roche ensured the structure of the Fr. Casey's defence never buckled. Finishing with a four point win, the Maurice Flynn and J.D. Foley coached team now advance to the final.

County Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 2-08, Adare 0-13
On Monday April 14th our Senior team had a solid win over Adare in a tough match played in Abbeyfeale. Fr. Casey's got off to a slow start with Adare kicking two nice points to take an early lead. However, two pointed frees from Denis Behan and a scintillating score from Donners Kelly gave Fr. Casey's a one point lead. Adare then responded with two points of their own to put them back in the lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half. True Abbeyfeale man Jim Riordan then burst forward to score a great point and he followed this up with an excellent goal after some superb link up play with Behan. An Adare point was then added to the scoreboard but there were no signs of Abbeytyres man Eamon Flaherty "tyring" Monday night as he burst forward to score a fantastic goal just before half time. The first fifteen minutes of the second half was very close with both teams' defences succeeding in preventing scores at either end. Adare then hit a purple patch and scored three points in succession but mechanic Tom Collins, who had exhausted his marker, burst forward to give Fr. Casey's a much needed point. Adare however, responded with another two points from play to keep the pressure on the Fr. Casey's men. A further three points from placed balls courtesy of the accurate boot of Behan gave Fr. Casey's a comfortable cushion heading into the final few minutes. However, Adare picked up the pace once again and scored three points in the final few minutes to leave the minimum between the teams but time was not on their side and the referee blew the final whistle. Although some mistakes were made, the Fr. Casey's players showed good resolve and at times played some good positive football which is encouraging heading towards the first championship game.

Limerick Development Draw
The first Limerick Development Draw of 2014 which was due to take place at the end of March will now take place on Saturday April 19th. The draw will be broadcast on the Limerick's Live 95FM Sports programme between 10 and 11 am. The delay has been caused by the introduction of new software to support a fully automated draw. The second draw will take place on Saturday May 3rd and the third draw on Saturday May 31st. All subsequent draws will take place the final Saturday of each month and all will be broadcast live on radio.

As with previous years there will be 10 monthly draws from March to December. The top prize each month is €13,000, with a host of other cash prizes and vouchers to be won. The cost of entry is €100 or €10 per draw. 50% of the money collected will be returned to our local GAA Club so we strongly encourage all club members and supporters to join the draw for the coming year. The Limerick Development Draw has been one of our best sources of finance in recent years and these funds are vital to continue the development of our club. Any members who join the Limerick Development Draw via a once off payment of €100 will be exempt from paying membership fees. If you would like to join the draw or find out more information please feel free to contact our draw coordinator Liam O'Connor on 087 9267039.
