Limerick's Declan Hannon and manager John Kiely celebrate with the Liam MacCarthy

John Kiely says Limerick have no intention of parting with the Liam MacCarthy Cup next year.

The Treaty County celebrated a first All-Ireland hurling success in 45 years last August, but thoughts are now beginning to turn to 2019 and the prospect of putting titles back-to-back.

“The guys have set extremely high standards in terms of what they expect from themselves for a performance and I don’t see that changing,” the Limerick manager told the Limerick Voice.

“They’re a young bunch of players who aren’t going to be happy to win an All-Ireland at 22 and not push on. They’ve got no Munster title, no National League title – there’s a lot of stuff they haven’t done that they’ll want to do at some point in their careers.

“They’ve already shown a great appetite and have plenty of experience of going back to the well again after minor and U21 All-Irelands – I think that will stand to them.”
