The Galbally Under 21 Footballers won the South Under 21 A final on Friday night last, beating Ballylanders by 1-16 to 1-7. The presence of two Eoin O’Mahony’s on the field was unique and both contributed handsomely on the scoreboard. Indeed both have worn the green of Limerick. Eoin O’Mahony (Ballylanders) was a Limerick Minor Footballer in 2016 while Eoin O’Mahony (Galbally) was a Limerick Minor Hurler in 2018. Undoubtedly both will feature in many more Galbally vs Ballylanders derby games. Midway through the second half, there were only three points between the teams, but a run of Galbally points in the last 15 minutes decided the game. Cathal Shanahan was presented with the Cup by Mike Keane of the South Board.

There was a quick turnaround as they had to field in the County Semi Final on Sunday at Kilmallock against St Kierans. After difficult starts to both the first and second halves, they ground out a result to win by 2-7 to 0-7. Full credit to the management team of Mike McCabe, Declan Hickey, Kieran Hickey, James Ryan and Gary McCarthy for negotiating the side through two tricky fixtures and all hands will be on deck to prepare for the County Final against Kildimo/Pallaskenry which is due to take place this weekend
