JUNIOR A HURLING: On a blustery evening in Caherconlish last Sunday, Caherline welcomed Ballybricken for our first game in this years East Hurling League, under the watchful eye of referee Johnny Murphy. Owen Nelligan opened the scoring with a point 2 mins in, both teams going on to trade points for the first quarter, the score 5 points a piece with 15 mins gone. The second quarter saw Ballybricken hit the back of the net twice in the 18th & 30th min, with Caherline unable to convert a penalty in the 20th min. We had a number of other chances in front of goal but were unable to convert, so at half time, Ballybricken were ahead by 7, 2-07 to 0-06. Andrew Brennan opened the 2nd half scoring for Caherline with a lovely point and Caherline pushed on with a few more scores before Ballybricken got their 3rd goal 11 minutes in. Try as we might, we just couldn't get that bit of luck in front of goal and Ballybricken held on to win by 7, 3-11 to 0-13.
