West U21 A Semi-Final

Shannon Gaels 0-8

Ballysteen 0-2

We overcame a resolute Ballysteen outfit last Saturday at a wet and windy Athea,on a scoreline that flattered us slightly. The pitch was in incredible nick considering all the rain that fell and great credit is due to the Athea club. We started slowly and were lucky when our opponents struck the woodwork on a few occasions. We went in, up 3 points to 1 at the interval. We started much better in the second period and increased our lead, following good movement and passing from our defence. The last ten minutes was backs to the wall stuff with Ballysteen missing a few guilt edged chances, but luckily we came out on top after a tough 60 plus minutes of football. Best for us were Jamie Fitzgerald, Brian Long and Brendan Stack.

Team: S. Martin, J. Fitzgerald, B. Stack, S. Barrett, John Wallace, C. McSweeney, R. Culhane, B. Long, G. Stack, M. McSweeney, D. Noonan (capt.), C. O Shaughnessy, B. Flanagan, D. Noonan, James Wallace. Subs: K. Lenihan For John Wallace (bc), J. Scannell, G.Fitzgerald, C. Cregan, C. Culhane, S. Cregan, M. Moore(inj).

U21 West Final

We play Clan na Gael in the West final this Saturday, November 18th at 3pm in Athea. We lost to these boys three weeks ago by a point with a very below par performance, so we will be hopefully put in a much better hour of football this time around.  All support welcome and greatly appreciated.
