Paul Brennan is a man id rather see on the field wearing a jersey on the half back line

Himself McKeon and Reynolds are our wall and a class act too

Why has P. Brennan, J. Glancy and D. Beck left the squad?? all 3 are a huge loss but especially brennan he has been playing best co. player the last 2 years cant afford to loose so many from the squad, it will be a weak team in Newry!!

@nunu d beck????????

How would you compare him to be a huge loss compared say to Paul Brennan?

What has he ever done to be a huge loss? And why was he there in the first place?

James glancy was a good corner forward in his hayday but conor Beirne is a full forward

There is a massive difference in a corner and full forward, nobody knows this as well as myself

Fair play to the small traveling support up from Leitrim. Can't have been an easy game on the eye for yous, although judging by some of the comments on here not many of you anticipated a positive outcome in today's game anyway. To quote a soccer ball legend: 'If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win.' There will be better days ahead, stick by your county!

Another disappointing day yesterday. Couldn't get over how small the crowd that made it to the game. Everyone knows we're at a very low ebb but the lads still deserve support. After spending so much time making sure the fame didn't clash with the minor match and all

Really hard to bring up any good points. The pace Down attacked with was at a total different level to us. We spent so much time going over and back when we had the ball whereas they would get through so easily. I think a lot of this is just good coaching though. It was simple enough stuff but we weren't able to replicate (or tried to replicate)

Listening to Dessie Dolan Jnr on the radio on the way back he was making the point (having not watched the game) that we must have gone toe to toe with them as we conceded so much but we didn't. 12 men behind the ball most of the game.

We've taken some hammerings in the qualifiers. In general we've always got awful draws mind.

Think the whole system needs restructuring. Top 2 divisions in the league into the Race for Sam. Everyone else into another competition. If you're in the bottom 2 divisions but manage to get to a provisional final then you get into the top tier competition.

Our perceived problems with the county team run so much more deeper than a hammering by Down. In reality every man and his dog knew that anything less than a 20 point margin would have been an achievement given the circumstances. The players and management knew it in the back of their heads as well despite what they say otherwise.

The 'where do we go from here' thread, usual introspective mid summer trope isn't going to glean any solutions.

Now that the year is over what are your thoughts on the future ?

Are there any lessons to be learned from the two years combined?

I don't know what to say after that on Sunday. The over all attitude to football is at an all time low. No point dressing it any other way.
Very poor Leitrim support said enough. Felt sorry for the lads. Leitrim people now have no confidence in the team or set up.
Seem to be a few regular panel men missing which is disappointing. One sense I cant blame them but all the talk that night in croke park when they are looking to you to buy membership tickets seems pretty hollow now.

Worrying- two different styles have beaten us well. Rossies picking off long range scores over the blanket defence and Down just running through us with fantastic support play and fitness.

Credit to the Down folk. They turned out in great numbers and were very helpful and friendly. They could have said "it's only Leitrim-its only the 1st round qualifiers" but they represented themselves well, cheered every score and at no stage jeered our poor performance.
Positive, great to see some of the U21s thrown on and God love them they tried hard to inject some enthusiasm. The players did keep playing to the end. Passed the ball well at times but it was over and back the field instead of going forward, passed it to the man coming running out as opposed to the man running in.

As dodgy_pass said, our problems run much deeper and you could be typing all day and it's only the tip of the iceberg.
Again, 1st thing is 1st, get OUT of that division 4 as it has dragged us into dung football level.
