Tier 2 For Leitrim?

(Oldest Posts First)

At the recent opening of the centre of excellence the GAA president stated that being in a Tier 2 championship would benefit Leitrim as a chance to get to Croke Park to win a competition. in the same interview he stated Tyrone and Mayo had too many qualifiers games and this affected them.

So is this a genuine attempt to boost the fortunes of 'weaker' counties or to create an elite competition?

but why does he do this? Quite clear he is in favour of the Northern teams doing well in Munster and no need of it. He won't cod us with his codology. I'm on to him with his jig acting

There will be just one team in the first tier by the looks of it thanks to the dominance of Dublin.

Mulligan would make you laugh with his interview on off the call. Players want more games he says! He left the panel 3 years in a row before all qualifiers were finished.

What people make of our spokes person Mr Mulligan on off the ball? Players voted for tiered championship so why is is going on about players need to be asked about it?
Also comments about players wanting more games is a fair enough argument but he has left the panel at least 2 years in a row before it finished while missing out on games. He shouldn't be giving his opinion on it in my opinion

A distinctly average county career has got him national prominence. Ya got to admire it in a way

75% vote in favour of 2 Tier Championship folks, we might get another day out in Croke Park soon. Any suggestions for the Tier 2 Cup name? Paidi O Se maybe?

A name for the cup? The Horan Hoax.

Think Its a good move all round. The Div 3 and 4 teams are still in the hunt for SAM if they make Connacht final, not such a big ask with both Sligo and London doing it in recent years from division 3 and 4. DIV 1 and 2 teams who go the qualifier route will find it tougher than before with no chance of meeting a "minnow" as could happen up to now, for example Mayo V Limerick 2018. The tier 2 final must be held on a big day in Croker, perhaps double header with All Ireland semi final.

Double header in Croke park was done before with the Tommy Murphy cup. Not a good move to bring back almost carbon copy of the Tommy Murphy cup. I think the USA will be more busy that usual once Div 3,4 team players have only the tier 2 football to play.

I can understand why Mulligan and others left the panel. I would look at the management in relation to that. Look at the way the goalie Mc Kiernan was treated and Gary Reynolds, Daragh Rooney. So willesboy, get your facts right. Mulligan has had three cruciate injuries which would have retired lots of players with that type of injury. But people like you are envious of Mulligan getting publicity. As for his interview, he doesn't let himself or Leitrim down, and of course the majority of players in the lower divisions would agree to a two tier system. Have you ever played for your County. Are you stating that you don't agree with the two tier system.
