Another colossal beating taken by a Leitrim team this evening. This time the minors took one hell of a beating from mayo.

Beat out the gate in the second half.
Meanwhile roscommon beat galway minors.

Now last week our seniors were embarrassed by roscommon, so forget about beating roscommon or indeed any kind of major success until our minor and u20 teams compete and are winning.

Look at Ross they win and played in all Ireland finals at minor and under 21 and are strong here year in and out. Our seniors get trounced by them, - well why the hell wouldn't they when the teams coming up for us continuously get trounced repeatedly each and every year. Why do we continuously get it wrong.

Another capitulation by our minor team mirroring the savage beating taken by our seniors against roscommon. 5-15 to 8 points _ a 22 point hammering. Roscommon/mayo/galway/sligo teams will continue to beat us up through the ranks until we start producing and beating them at minor level first. This was another excellent ross team, we were no match. No wonder their senior's beat us so easily the last 4 years when this is reflective of our lads going forward to senior ranks and reflective of theirs.
Tonight was another embarrassment

Very disappointed with Minor game. Leitrim have some excellent individual players but it's not working out at the moment. Other county's are leaving us behind. The change to u13, u15 and u17 for clubs seems like a silly decision when our neighbours have stayed with the traditional u12, u14 and u16. Leitrim clubs are unable to get challenge games and can go over 3 months without a game. For example u15 league is over now and it will be September before their championship starts . If the grass roots club setup isn't correct the county set-up will ultimately suffer.

Can I ask is there any coaching with our underage players, it's a disgrace getting beating by sligo n ros, county board needs cleaning out, n bring n coaches that has proven how to go to schools n coach like sligo n others teams.

The enthusiasm of our management at each level has to be commended.
But lets put this in perspective. Neither the management of the under 20s or minors has any track record of winning anything at management level at either county or club level.
Are they decent coaches possibly but its about time our county board took a long hard look at who they appoint to these positions. Both gentlemen oooze guts and pride but that is not near enough when trying to put together a panel to compete with our Connaught neighbours. Best of luck to both panels in upcoming competitions but i fear its the same old story year after year at our underage levels!!!

Another absolute mauling again this evening, who the hell is in charge of appointing these lads? The county board need to buck up here and start hiring a few people who know what they're at.Its no wonder young lads drop off and lose interest when they're getting hammered every week. Why hasn't James Clancy been approached to work with the under age strstructure, a terrible waste of an excellent coach. We're going nowhere at this rate.Every year it's the same. Its not good enough anymore.Leitrim Gaa,always playing catch up never thinking ahead.Rant over.

Totally agree, how can we moan about our senior team not being up at a higher level when development isn't there at a young age. Theres people in charge getting paid good money to look after underage development and there appalling at their job, if they don't step down they should be shown the door. These young Leitrim lads deserve the same chance as anyone else in the country to fulfill their potential. An embarrassment last night I don't put any of the blame on the players.
