U16 County Champions: Congratulations to the entire St. Brigid's team on their winning the County Championship Final against Ballinamore, Sean O'Heslins with an outstanding performance under harsh weather conditions. These hard working lads took to the field on Friday evening with no mention of cold or uncertainty, no hesitation or excuse, for them winning the County Championship title was their only ambition that night. With determination, resolve and the blood running hot through their veins they quickly took the lead in the game. St. Brigid's dominated centre field early, collecting numerous high fielding balls, while the forwards working tirelessly to mount scores against a zone set up defence. Half time score saw St. Brigid's well in the lead with a score line of St. Brigid's 1-07 to Ballinamore SOH 0-05. The return to the field after half time saw a tenacious Ballinamore team gather wind, the St. Brigid's defence showed great tenacity when under severe pressure, however a penalty awarded to Ballinamore SOH left only a two point lead to St. Brigid's. The following minutes showcased some fine football skills from both teams, with incumbent rattles and roars from dedicated supporters on one of the coldest evenings of the year. Ultimately, St. Brigid's acquired control of the ball and the game and following some hard tackling they purloined in to lead position once more, holding fast and finishing the game with three points scored one after the other. Final Score St Brigid's 2-14 to Ballinamore SOH 2-11. Special Congratulations to the Aughawillan lads Mark Stringer, Darragh Maxwell, Darren Prior, Ronan McTague, Brian Stringer, Michael McTague, Kevin Prior, Conor McGovern, Michael O'Haire& Evan Prior. Congratulations also to their management team of Martin Flanagan, Adrian Cullen & Ollie Maguire.
