Mohill GAA notes

October 17, 2016

History of Mohill GAA

Over the past two years a dedicated team of researchers, have been involved in compiling a History of Mohill GAA Club from its foundation in 1889 until 2015. The project is now nearing completion and as usual money is the only stumbling block. Virtually every family in the town and surrounding area has been associated with the club at one time or another, and it is safe to say that within the pages of the book will be photographs of ancestors of many of the current generation of Mohill natives. So we are offering Mohill people, at home and away, the chance to be associated with it by sponsoring a page in the book. The suggested contribution is €50/page for either an individual or, alternatively, per family, each contributor will be acknowledged at the bottom of the page they have sponsored.

Operation Transportation

Mohill Operation Transformation is a 6 week program starting with registration on October 28 to motivate our community to get out, get fit, get healthy and hopefully lose some extra pounds between now and Xmas. We are looking for leaders to gather their team and motivate them to take part in the variety of fitness activities which will be available to them. Diet advice, motivation talks etc will be provided to support each participant. Katherine Lynch will be on hand to launch the Operation on October 28. Time and venue will be in next weeks Observer

Minor Championship

The much anticipated replay of the County Minor final will take place on Saturday next at 4.15 in Pairc Seán. Get to Carrick and support these hardy boys.

For anyone wishing to take part in Scór na nÓg this year, there will be a meeting tonight Wed at 8pm in Fitzpatricks Lounge. Scór includes, music, question time, singing, dancing, drama and recitation. Under 16

The Under 16s played their last game in Aughnasheelin on Sunday last when they were beaten by St Brigids. Players were scarce on the ground on Sunday  but the very young boys led by minors Peter O Neill, Johnny Boyle, Jordan McGuinness kept going till the end. We thank Simon McGuiness and Gerry Keegan for their hard work all year.
