> > U16 Championship: St Brigids played Sean O'Heslins in the second round of the Championship in Drumreilly. The war of the titans gathered an unusually large crowd of supporters on a Monday evening, with the typical good humoured rivalry that is inherent in Gaa circles. St Brigids got the first point of the game but Ballinamore fought back quickly with a point an then a goal. Brigids were fraught with five wides, till they scored again two points. Ballinamore scored a goal and Brigids stepped back with a point but minutes later a second goal for Ballinamore. The st brigids men fought back with bravado and scored two points but Ballinamore challenged back with a point, before the half time whistle blew Sean O'Heslins 2-06 to St Brigids 0-6. Sean o heslins came out in the second half and scored a point, but the st brigids men were not to be rattled n scored a point in return. Tit for tat continued on the field until brigids scored a goal 2-08 to 1-08 with fifteen minutes to go, surely the St Brigids men could narrow the margin. Two goals were expertly saved by the Sean o heslin goalie. A point each did little to narrow the margin with five minutes to go, tension was in the air but unfortunately on this occasion the St Brigids men did not have another opportunity to score. Final score St Brigids 1-09 to Sean OHeslins 2-09.
