Gortletteragh GAA club notes

Noel McManus R.I.P.
When news broke Friday morning of the tragic death of Noel McManus, all thoughts of a normal footballing weekend were put to one side.  Noel ran a very successful business which was located across the road from our Community Centre.  He was friendly, popular and most helpful to us at the club when we needed assistance.  Over the years Noel used his skillful hands to fix goalposts, gates, metal steps etc and this work was always done with a smile.  Noel was game for a laugh especially when he played the part of a "baby" in Gortletteragh Drama Group's "Mock Wedding"; his antics got the biggest laughs of the night.  He loved running and cycling and was very good at both.  Noel was an extremely hard worker who built his business from scratch, up to a level where he had several employees.  Most of all he was a great husband to his wife Fiona and a great father to daughters Laura and Dervla.  Both girls play for our ladies club and indeed Noel was the main sponsor for the adult ladies team.  The large guard of honour formed by club members young and old at the park Sunday evening showed how popular Noel was held with everyone. The club would like to offer its deepest sympathy to Fiona, Laura and Dervla and all of Noels extended family and friends.  It's hard to believe that in the space of 12 months Noel and his next door neighbour David McPartland, another successful businessman in his forties, both have passed away. May they Rest in Peace.
