Mohill club notes

AGM

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday next in the Clubrooms at 5pm. Everyone is invited, especially new members. We need all the helpers we can get in 2015 as it will be a busy year on all fronts starting in January with the rededication of the Park and naming it in honour of the late Philly McGuinness.

St Manchan's

The Under 21s will play Gortina in the Championship Final on Saturday next. The boys qualified when they overcame St Brigid's in a close encounter  on Saturday last at Ballinamore. All played well on the day and need our continued support this weekend. The team and scorers was. Jason Farry, James Mitchell, Ronan Reynolds, Ryan Bohan, Oisin Madden, Nathan Conboy, Eanna Madden (0-1), Shane Quinn, Caillin Canning (0-1), Shane McGowan, Darragh Gordon, Niall Quinn, Ronan Gordon (0-3), Alan McLoughlin (1-5), Cian McGuinness. Seamus Browne

We congratulate Seamus Browne who won an award as an unsung hero from the Sports Partnership last weekend. Seamus and the Browne family are among our best supporters over the years and his late father, Jackie would have been very proud of Seamus.

Eanna Madden

Eanna also got an award from the Sports Partnership for his great achievements in athletics. He also finds time in his busy schedule to line out for Mohill in many grades. Well done Eanna

Brian Gordon

We congratulate Brian on his retirement from The National Lottery on Friday last. A big event in anyone's life, Brian as County Board Treasurer will be hopefully concentrating on aiding his County achieve greatness and giving his usual helping hand to Mohill.

Nora Mitchell

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Mitchell family on the death of a dear wife and mother Nora last week. Her son John played underage for Mohill.  May her gentle soul rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí

James Mitchell

James has been voted Minor player of 2014. He has excelled at County and Club level and has played on many grades with Mohill. Well done young man.  

Gerry's Memory Lane

This week we go back ti 1972 and to the first round of the Under 14 in which Carrick defeated Mohill 3-7 to 1-0. The lineout was. Eamonn Duignan, Liam Conlon, Brendan Wrynne, Paul Wynne RIP,  Michael Duignan, Sean McGarry, Frank Early,  Francis Moran 1-0, Gerry Beirne, Gerry McCawley, David Gordon, Michael"Pele"Boyle, Peadar Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Stephen Flynn. David Gordon was only 10yrs old.
