Fox, Paddy

February 14, 2014
The death occurred on Wednesday of our club President Paddy Fox, Corrick predeceased by his grandson Myles, McDonagh, brothers Jim and John, sister Joan. Paddy is sadly missed by his wife Ena, daughters Noelin, Eithne and Eimear, sons Donal and Colum, grandchildren, sisters Frances Shanley and Attracta Gowran, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, neighbours and friends. Paddy was one of nature's gentlemen. He was a player and administrator with Annaduff GAA for many years. When he finished playing he served Annaduff as an official and coach. After the death of Fr Sean Manning, Paddy managed all underage teams with great success especially at U14 and U16 level winning numerous county titles. He not only managed the teams he brought most of the team to the matches in his car, no one was left behind when he arrived with his Volkswagon. When things were going badly, Paddy always had great encouragement at half time always looking at the bright side. He also served on Bord na nOg. Paddy was also a strong Leitrim supporter and was a mastermind on Leitrim teams of the past especially Leitrim County Junior teams. His proudest moment with Annaduff was probably when Annaduff won the senior championship in 2004.
Annaduff GAA provided a guard of honour at Paddy's Removal and Gerry Newton and his team did tremendous work over the three days. Paddy was one of the main men in the revival of Annaduff GAA in 1958. In 1958 the best moment of his life occurred when he married Ena O'Reilly from Lough Gowna in Cavan. Apart from sport Paddy was a man of many interests, he was one of the founding members of Annaduff Credit Union. He started work with CIE in Claremorris where he worked for three years. After Leitrim Mayo was his great love at county level. When he left Claremorris he started his teaching career in Adoon, Cloone, then went to Jamestown finally ending up as Principal in his beloved Annaduff National School. He was a farmer also and a member of IFA. He loved in later years to walk the farm checking on his numerous sheep. Removal took place to St Mary's Church, Annaduff with burial in the adjoining cemetery. A great and lovely man has died. May he rest in peace.
