Launch Night

We had a large turnout at our development plans launch in The Bodhrán on Saturday night. It was a jam-packed evening with great music by Adrian Hiney, plenty of food, an entertaining mini-auction ran by the jocular and lively Mick Heeney and of course the launch of our development plans by our chairman, Liam McDaniel. Our plans were on display in the lounge and an interactive presentation ran on the TV screen which gave all present a great overview of what the club is embarking upon. Liam, in his address, informed all that plans for our new training pitch, floodlights and walking track lights were well advanced by now and he thanked those who have worked so hard over the last twelve months and more to get us to this point. Liam looked to the future of our club and with increasing numbers of young players in our national school and coming through the underage ranks of our successful juvenile club, he expressed that it was incumbent on us to further develop our facilities now and to give our players every opportunity. Liam also announced our fundraising plans to raise the matching funding required to complete the project. In short, we have launched an investor fund where we are looking for players and members, former and current, parents of children in our NS and juvenile club, neighbours, friends and everyone who has a connection to our club to contribute €10 a month for 12 months (you can avail of a €20 discount if you pay in one installment) to be entered into four quarterly draws in 2020. Following our launch, we will now be reaching out to many in the locality to seek your assistance as we aim to reach our financial target. We want to thank those who contributed items towards our auction and raffle on the night, Deirdre and the staff in The Bodhrán, our musician on the evening, Adrian Hiney, and all those who helped on the night either serving food, selling tickets and more.

Underage Fixtures
Our minor footballers play their Shield final against Athlone on Saturday at 2pm in Rosemount. Our U14’s play Kinnegad in their Shield semi final on Sunday morning at 11am in Ballinagore. The best of luck to both teams and their mentors.

Jim McHugh U12 Memorial Tournament

Lilliput Gaels 2-10 Caulry 3-04

Our U12’s had a good win against Caulry in the Garrycastle tournament played in Ballinagore on Friday evening. Despite the heavy rain earlier in the day the pitch was in great condition and both teams served up an entertaining game which went down to the wire. Caulry played the better football in the first half and held a one point lead at the break. To our boys credit we upped our game in the second half and picked off some good scores to lead by six points heading into the last five minutes. A late goal by Caulry kept the game on a knife edge but we defended well in the last few minutes to hold on for victory. We now play Milltownpass next week in the plate semi-final. Team: Dylan Birch, Eoin Carey, Conor Maloney, Shane Maloney, Sean Bolger, Aaron Jackson, Darragh Mulligan, Dylan Corrigan, Cian Corcoran, Luke Robinson, Patrick Maloney, David O’Malley, Lennon Swan, Eoin Bolger, Gavin Ennis. Subs Ciaran Doran, Fionn McKinley, Fionn Jackson, Oisin McCabe, Conor Robinson, Dara Fagan

U12 Ladies Success

Well done to local girls, Amy Seery, Anne Reynolds and Katie Hogg, who were members of the victorious Tyrrellspass U12 team who won their final last weekend against Shandonagh. The team is coached by Amy's dad, Ian, so a big well done to him also!

Wedding Bells

We send our congratulations and best wishes to Michael Kirby and Katie Harris who celebrated their wedding in Castletown Geoghegan on Saturday.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to Kathleen Carton and family, Balrath, on the death of her mother, Margaret Hughes, Mount Temple. May she Rest in Peace.
