SFC begins

August 05, 2015

The 2015 Laois senior football championship finally throws in this weekend.

The weather may look more like something we should be having in late November, but as the second week of August approaches, Laois senior clubs have their eye on the county title.

Portlaoise remain the standard bearers in the county as they chase their ninth consecutive title, but there are many pretenders to the throne.

Arles-Killen lifted the league title last Sunday and they enter the championship in buoyant mood this weekend as they kick off their campaign against Ballylinan on Thursday night.

There is one game down for decision also on Friday night as Mountmellick take on Portarlington.

Then on Saturday, there are three games due to be played as Arles-Kilcruise meet Graiguecullen; Emo v. Heath and Portlaoise v. Stradbally.

There are a further three games on Sunday with the meetings of Ballyfin v. St Joseph's; Crettyard v. Ballyroan Abbey; Killeshin v. O'Dempsey's.
