There is already speculation that the next Laois football manager will come from within the county.

The O'Moore County is on the lookout for its fifth manager in nine years after Tomas O Flatharta stepped down in the wake of last Saturday's disastrous All-Ireland qualifier first round loss to Antrim. The Kerryman's appointment in October 20013 was viewed as a surprise at the time, but it's expected that Laois will shop closer to home when choosing their new supremo this time.

Among the names likely to be in the mix are former All Star defender Joe Higgins, fellow 2003 Leinster winner Chris Conway, Portlaoise manager Tommy Conroy, Emo's Mick Lawlor, former Wexford and Offaly manager Pat Roe and ex-selector and All Star goalkeeper Fergal Byron.
