Wexford 5-22
Laois 0-25

Liam Dunne's Wexford will secure promotion to the top flight if they can overcome Waterford on home soil next Sunday.

The Model County's victory away to Laois today set up the winner-takes-all clash at Innovate Wexford Park and they will enter the contest in a confident frame of mind having got the bitter disappointment of last weekend's defeat to Limerick out of their system.

Liam Og McGovern netted the first of their five goals in the 13th minute but they struggled to shake off the close attentions of their hosts in the first-half and led by just 1-11 to 0-13 at the halfway stage.

Two quick fire goals from Conor McDonald and David Redmond helped them seize the initiative - 3-11 to 0-16 - early in the second half.

But, to their credit, Cheddar Plunkett's charges continued to clock up the white flags and make life difficult for the visitors.

Further goals from McDonald and Podge Doran saw Wexford finish with 12 points to spare at the final whistle.

A cause for concern, however, for Dunne and his backroom team will be the statistic that Laois hit 22 points from play and they struggled in the puck-out department.

Ian Byrne top scored for the winners with 15 points (11 from placed balls) while Zane Keenan and Willie Hyland hit seven and six points respectively for Laois.
