Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett was a happy man after his Laois side recorded a 'huge win' over Antrim in Division 1B last Sunday.

The O'Moore County got the better of their fellow strugglers on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-14 and, afterwards, Cheddar gave all the credit to his players.

"A huge win, and you could probably say it was the nature of winning the match that was hugely important to us," the Portlaoise man remarked to the Leinster Express.

"We have concentrated over the last two weeks on getting back to basics and putting in the effort to win possession, and the effort to use possession well.

"We had lost a little bit of form, and we knew coming up here we were going to really, really target the battle for possession and make sure we won the ball and be secure with it, and work it as well as we could.

"We have to give fierce credit to the lads, there was a strong breeze there in the second half and we dug really deep to get something from the game.

"All the lads that came in contributed, and we said this morning that every single person was going to contribute toay and that definitely showed."

Cheddar concluded by thanking the O'Moore County supporters who made the long trek to Armoy.

"I'd like to thank all the Laois supporters who the trip up here today. I'd also like to wish a speedy recovery to Noah Flynn, a young man from Clonaslee who has been sick for a while and is in St James Hospital.

"Get well soon Noah, and we all look forward to seeing you in O'Moore Park again shouting on the team."
